Andrew started playing power soccer in 2005 after his dad found out about the sport through friends. He grew up playing little league baseball and trying to play able bodied sports while at school with his twin brother Tommy, but he was never able to play independently without someone helping him. When he was introduced to power soccer, he fell in love with the competitive nature of the sport and being independent, he was the only one in control of how good he was. Diagnosed with a very rare disease, Multi Mini-Core Myopathy, he got his first wheelchair around the time he started playing power soccer. Andrew plans to study either biology or astronomy in college. His parents are Tom and Judy Cunningham, sister Ali and twin brother Tommy. Hobbies include fishing, video games, and researching about new scientific discoveries.
“Being able to play for Team USA is an incredible honor, representing my country at the highest level is an unbelievable feeling. This is my second time playing for Team USA. I played for the 2017 world cup team and the outcome of the last world cup it hit me and my teammates hard. I now have a lot of motivation to bring back the World Cup to the USA where it belongs.”
